Dean's Listing
The Dean's List recognizes students in the Goodwin College of Pedagogy who take achieved academic success in fall or leap semesters. The criteria for eligibility include: a semester GPA of three.80 or higher for the semester being awarded; education major must have been declared by the offset of the semester existence awarded; successful completion of six or more than credit hours, without any incomplete grades.

Abound Your Own Illinois
Grow Your Own (GYO) Illinois is a 501c3 not-profit that advances the efforts of the GYO consortia to achieve equity, excellence and multifariousness in the new teacher pipeline and the teaching strength. The priorities of GYO Illinois include:
- Creating a pipeline of highly qualified teachers of color (GYO defines highly qualified as pedagogical and subject matter content mastery and a high caste of cultural competence).
- Supporting GYO teachers in one case they are in the classroom.
- Advocating to close the teacher-student variety gap across Illinois.
Dear Grow Your Own supporter,
Illinois is currently facing a instructor shortage. To address this pressing need, Grow Your Own Teachers (GYO) is actively recruiting individuals from communities of colour to go licensed teachers. The Chicago area program has just opened its application menses, and more are opening soon.
With GYO'due south aid, selected candidates will complete a instructor licensing program at a university of their choice. In exchange, participants commit to working as a classroom teacher for at least v (5) years in a high needs public schoolhouse in Illinois.
We ask that you share this e-mail with your colleagues, friends, and acquaintances who have the enthusiasm, delivery and capacity to teach in the virtually demanding schools. GYO will ensure that everyone has the resources they need to succeed.
Who are GYO candidates?
- Staff working in their local schools who have a want to pursue classroom teaching.

What are the deadlines?
- GYO'due south online awarding for Chicago and Lake Canton applicants will be available starting Thursday, April i, 2021. The deadline to submit the completed application is April 30, 2021.
Candidates volition need to provide college transcripts and/or proof of a high school degree (or GED), a writing sample, and 2 letters of recommendation. Literacy, Leadership, and Development
In a recent study by the Illinois Council of Professors of Educational Assistants (ICPEA) of xx institutions offering master's degrees in educational administration leading to the Illinois schoolhouse primary endorsement, NEIU'due south program reported having more 200 students. This was the largest number of enrolled students of all reporting institutions and represents 14 percent of the total reported Country of Illinois population. On Sept. ane, 2012, Illinois law closed the window for candidates seeking admission to schools in Illinois for the Type 75 Illinois Certification plan. The state created a new endorsement titled "Principal Endorsement," which has replaced the Type 75 certification. On Sept. 7, 2012, NEIU was approved by the Illinois State Educator Training and Licensure Board (SEPLB) to offer a program leading to the Principal Endorsement. NEIU received a perfect score on the state's 171-item, 46-folio application rubric. During the last five years, the program'southward enrollment has grown from its origin of thirteen students and houses programs at the Primary Campus, University Middle of Lake County, and in school districts with cohorts.
Curriculum Infusion of Real Life Issues (CIRLI)
K-12 Teachers may receive 5 CPDUs from the Goodwin College of Education by completing a free online module on the Curriculum Infusion of Real Life Bug (CIRLI). The online module enables teachers to effectively appoint students in learning by providing life issues curriculum relevant to students' lives. The CIRLI online module prepares teachers to:
- better understand various student cultures and the life problems that students face.
- integrate report of pressing life issues such as substance abuse, bullying and clearing/immigrant rights into classes across disciplines and grade levels.
- contain show based prevention strategies that promote resistance to issues like substance abuse and bullying that interfere with student educational and personal development.
- design life bug class activities and assignments that aid students reach Common Core State Standards.
The module was developed by Northeastern Illinois University faculty members who have more than 25 years of successful experience facilitating the development of life issues curriculum.
